Nanowrimo is about to begin in just a few days. I've never participated before and I am quite nervous about it. Writing a novel will already be a challenge for me, but writing a novel in 30 days may be a little beyond my stretch.
I love to write and I've been writing since I was in the fifth grade. I had my first story published in the school's paper when I was in the 7th grade. Since then I have written a few novels (all which have seen the delete button), but I can never seem to finish them. I usually just give up or delete them. I am hoping that by signing up for Nano this year, it will motivate me to actually finish something I've started.
I have a basic idea for a story. It's an idea that has been festering for a few days. It is actually inspired by my fear of a Zombie apocalypse. I know, sounds pretty silly. But Zombie movies/shows/books really terrify me. Yet, I still watch them. I think that I may secretly like this genre. So I've decided to write a my Nano novel about a Zombie apocalypse in the not so distant future.
It will follow the trail of two sisters forced to fend for themselves as they travel a ravaged U.S. to look for the remainder of their family. Along the way they will also meet other women and men who join their survivors camp as they all search for a safe haven and come to terms with the harsh reality of their new world.
We'll see how it goes. :)
